Ok. Here is the mess:

A) The client sent me a .pdf file with tons and tons of graphics, a .ttx file and .tmw file.
B) I have a new Mac (yeah!!!) and no CAT tools installed (yet).
C) I have worked with memories, tagged files, .pdfs, blah blah blah.

What CAT tools and conversion programs must I install on my MAC to translate my client's .pdf file and provide a memory and tagged file?

No fiddling needed... May 22, 2009

The easiest way is to use virtualization software (Parallels, VirtualBox) to create a Windows virtual machine and work with Trados and Abby Finereader. Using the right settings, they will appear as floating windows on the Mac desktop, just as any other Mac application.

VirtualBox is free and quite stable. Trados for the ttx and tmw, and FineReader to turn PDFs into Word.

You'd also need a copy of Windows XP or Vista.
