And doesn't Wordfast work on Mac too? As just a document template, I believe it is supposed to work in MS Word even on the Mac platform — though I haven't personally tried it...

Luca Mastrorocco wrote: Ok!Sorry if this topic was already out there, have to be honest didn't look for it. Hi again Luca, I forgot one more addition! http://www.proz.com/topic/19016 This thread mentions the CAT tool Mémento, which has the dubious merit of being the only native CAT tool under OS9! It also works under OSX; although I'm not sure whether it's Cocoa or just runs under the Classic shell: http://www.cogilia.com/memento_2.html Also, if I understand correctly, this program wasn't released in public, so maybe it's "vaporware"?! Regarding Virtual PC, I made a survey earlier about the successful system specs: http://www.proz.com/post/310282#310282 Based on other people's experience, these are the minimum requirements for running Trados on Virtual PC: Trados 4.5 and above with USB dongle OSX 10.1.2 and above (OS9 might work, but I found less evidence) VPC 5 and above (version must match CPU type) CPU: G3 333 MHz and above Mac model: PowerMac and PowerBook (iBook user reported dongle issues) RAM: preferably 512 Mb and above /Jan | | | For posterity | Nov 25, 2007 |
This discussion is now in the archives, but for those who go looking for Mac CAT tools, a word of warning: the upcoming MS Office for Mac will no longer be supporting Visual Basic. The bottom line: Wordfast runs based on VBA macros, and hence will become inoperative. There's no indication it will be redeveloped to play nicely with native Mac applications either. Just a thought before you plunk down some money... | | | Hester Eymers Netherlands Local time: 23:15 Member (2005) English to Dutch + ...

I have downloaded a number of Mac CAT programs, and Omega seems to be a very good solution. Can someone please tell me how to add/activate spell check? I've found a number of options for Windows Omega users, but nothing for Mac users.

OmegeT 1.8 (still in beta) has a quite good spellcheck, on OSX too (I am using it now). | | | Not in newest Office | Apr 3, 2008 |

As far as I know VBA is not included in the newest Office for Mac, so this is not the case if you use the latest Office for Mac as I guess Wordfast is based on Word macros.
