Japanese term or phrase: 仕込んだ
焼成炉の中に仕込んだ状態で乾燥を行い、乾燥工程と焼成工程を連続して行うこともできる。
This is talking about drying and calcination of tin oxide powder, and saying that if drying is done in the calcination furnace, calcination can be done following on from this. I'm just not sure what is meant by 仕込んだ状態 here.
I'm thinking of fudging it with something like "suitably prepared."

English translation:placed
Explanation:
仕込んだonly means it is placed there for some processing. The text is saying that with this machine you can do both of 乾燥工程と焼成工程in the same machine without replacing the object to a different machine. Note that 仕込みdoes not refer to the processing itself. But it implies that something is placed somewhere to be ready for processing, which could take place just by sitting there, such as drying or fermentation.

Notes to answerer
Asker: "While placed in a furnace" sounds good. I thought shikomu might imply something more, like in 酒を仕込む but I guess it doesn't here.

"shikomu" means to prepare/mix ingredients for the processing of products (food, drinks, chemicals, etc. ) So, in this context, it would mean the materials are to be made ready or prepared (mixed, etc.) in the 焼成炉 for the next step which is the drying process.

So "suitably prepared" wouldn't be fudging it. :-)

In chemistry, in situ typically means "in the reaction mixture" There are numerous unstable molecules which must be synthesized in situ (i.e. in the reaction mixture but cannot be isolated on their own) for use in various processes. Examples include the Corey-Chaykovsky reagent and adrenochrome.

In chemical engineering, in situ often refers to industrial plant "operations or procedures that are performed in place". For example, aged catalysts in industrial reactors may be regenerated in place (in situ) without being removed from the reactors
