My name is
Blessing Uzuegbu, a Nigerian citizen, an Igbo, and Nigerian Pidgin English
native speaker. I graduated from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, in 2009.
I have had
my major share of language barriers during my university days, we were on internship
training, and it happens that we were posted to remote areas where there are
limited English speakers, it was a huge struggle communicating with the
community.
This spurs my curiosity about language as I began to study the language in
order to bridge the language barrier. Within a short period I was able to learn the basic communication expression.
I observed
how happy the communities were when they realized I had put in effort into
learning their language, they were very happy to relate well with me and go further in helping me understand their language, within a short period of time I was able to purchase my groceries in the community market without hassle.
When I
graduated, I decided to venture into language as a full-time career in my
native languages. I chose Igbo and Nigerian Pidgin English because they
are my mother tongue and it was also recorded as one of the endangered languages as it is gradually losing its relevance in the global market.
I started
solely as an Igbo and Nigerian Pidgin English translator to revive and preserve
my mother tongue. I came in with this passion to become a full-time Igbo
and Nigerian Pidgin English translator and to choose this as my career
path, it was the best decision I have ever made.
During my
college days, I was the best Igbo pupil in my class. I have rich knowledge of the Igbo grammar rules, spelling, and
diacritics. I am familiar with the formal Igbo Izugbe approved writing standard and I incorporate this in all my translation to give it a high quality standard sellable to the target audience.
I am a
meticulous translator with an eye for detail who takes pride in her quality
linguistic work, I am not your regular translator but one who has carved a
