Gmail, europe.com, whatever... if purporting to be from an agency, publisher or other business and not sent via their proprietary domain, it's always a scam.

(That may not be literally true, but surely it covers >99% of all cases.)

Of course it may still be a scam even with a nice domain name.

Thanks for flagging this. We can confirm that this is not an official ProZ.com recruitment communication.
Both europe.com and usa.com appear to be domains being spoofed/misused in these messages —one an empty lander, the other has a redirect in place, but neither seem to be legitimate email providers.

While the ProZ.com team does sometimes act in a project-management or recruitment capacity for specific projects, communications of this kind will always come from an official @proz.com email address. We would never use a third-party address such as the ones shared here.

If you have received one of these messages, we'd appreciate it if you could forward the fraudulent email to [email removed] or submit it through the ProZ.com support center at ProZ.com/help. Ich beziehe mich auf die persönliche Rangliste für jedes Sprachpaar, in der nach jeweils 3 Monaten alle Kudozpunkte in die nächste Spalte transferiert und dabei in der ehemaligen Spalte gelöscht werden.

Habe ich zum Beispiel 10 Punkte durch Beantwortung von Fragen im Zeitraum von Januar bis Ende März gesammelt, werden diese Anfang April in die 3-Monats-Spalte übertragen. Nach weiteren 3 Monaten verschiebt sich alles ein weiteres Mal und zwar in die Spalte mit der Gesamtpunktzahl.

Fragen können nicht geschlossen werden? Wieso nicht?

It is extremely rare that I sit at my desk for hours at a time, I usually get up and do something else at home. My computer is up after breakfast in the morning until I go to bed at night, when I prefer to turn it off. A computer is no good when you are sleeping. Windows 10 now takes nearly half an hour to be ready for action after all those updates to it. I cannot switch to Windows 11 with my current setup, that is what my notebook tells me. I will wait and see what Microsoft comes up with after Windows 11. It is worth congratulating that operating system developers and PC manufacturers support each other nicely (!).

Ich verstehe die Frage leider nicht. Welches vierteljährliche Verschieben, welches Summieren, welche nächste Sparte? Wie/wo sind dir diese Kollegen aufgefallen? I don't think Proz has a "Document Translation Project" or a "Proz Project Recruitment Team", but I can't say at first sight whether [email removed] is fake or a scam, although a name like "Online Jobs Ltd" sounds to be very general to me, too general to be genuine. However, some companies use that kind of general names and websites to sit on top of the search results.
More research is needed.

Hi,

I received an email from [email removed] titled "Invitation to Join Our Document Translation Project".

After listing the usual requirements, they are asking the recipient to contact the Project Manager through Microsoft Teams and provide an invite link to do so.

But the signature is "Proz Project Recruitment Team", which sounds doubtful. Unless it is different from the PROZ platform.

Has anyone approached you from this email address?

Hallo an alle,
bevor ich meine Proz-Mitgliedschaft beenden werde, hätte ich noch gern eine Frage gestellt:
Als regelmäßige Kudoz-Beantworterin fiel mir schon vor längerer Zeit auf, dass beim vierteljährlichen Verschieben eventueller Kudozpunkte einige Kollegen ihre Punkte summieren statt in die nächste Sparte zu verschieben. Dabei handelt es sich insbesondere um 2 Kollegen der Sprachrichtungen DE>PT>DE (darf ich die Namen nennen?), die mir bei der üblichen Beantwortung in den letzten 15 Jahren noch nie begegnet sind, aber scheinbar nach dem Schließen der Fragen Punkte sammeln, die von niemanden eingesehen werden können.
Mir geht es dabei nicht um die Punkte, aber sehr wohl um die unterschiedliche Behandlung der Kudoz-Teilnehmer und das mögliche Erlernen passenderer Begriffe in diesen Sprachpaaren.

I received an unsolicited email offering me a freelance document translation project from the following sender:

The email is signed “Proz Project Recruitment Team” and claims to be offering a Document Translation Project.

The email does not provide the name of a specific client/company, project details, language pair, word count, rate, deadline, or any verifiable contact information. Instead, it instructs recipients to contact a “Project Director” via Microsoft Teams using this link:

I believe this may be an impersonation/scam, particularly because the sender uses @usa.com rather than an official ProZ.com email address, and the sender name is “Prozz.com” / “Proz Project Recruitment Team.”

I did not reply to the sender, contact the person via Teams, provide any personal information, or accept the project. I only accidentally clicked “Reply” and immediately deleted the unsent draft.

I would appreciate it if you could investigate whether this email is fraudulent and, if appropriate, add the sender/address to your scam alerts or take any necessary action.

I can provide the original email or screenshots if required.

Some data points:

1. The last three quick polls had all closed before I even saw them. The last two had totals of 13 and 14 votes, probably because they were up for such a short time. What is the point of a poll that only collects a dozen votes?

2. It's still not possible to participate in an existing discussion, either by adding a new post directly or by quoting somebody else's post. This has been going on for more than a week now. All you get is a blank page with the ProZ menus at the top.

I had to start a new topic in order to present these data points.

　　综合上面的信息，可以得到以下一些结论：

1，电影审查政策

　　看来电影审查部门要求中国电影的英文里一律不能译龙为 dragon，不论电影场景处于什么年代。这体现了管理部门希望中国的国家形象和 dragon 切割的态度。

　　当然，这还需要更多的证据，例如官方文件或口头通知的复述记载。近年来多部涉龙电影都译龙为 loong（哪吒2，如何成为三条龙）是一个间接的证据。

　　这样做也是保护电影制作方。如果影片译龙为 dragon，上映后观众强烈批评，影片下架修改，这将耗费巨资，并且会错失档期。

2，店招文字

　　我猜测《欢迎来龙餐馆》的编导人员本来想把老扎版龙餐馆的店招写得和 2003年原型餐馆一样：Chinese Dragon Restaurant。因为龙餐馆的创始人是老扎，他来过中国大陆，而在中国大陆当时看不到译龙为 loong 的情况，只有 Dragon 或 Chinese dragon，他回去后创建龙餐馆，会顺理成章地把英文写成 Chinese Dragon Restaurant 的。

　　但是因为译龙为 dragon 的话电影不能过审，也不宜译龙为 loong（毕竟故事里当时 loong 还没有普及），于是导演干脆把 dragon 删除，只写了 Chinese Restaurant。制作窗户上英文标贴的工作人员可能有点疏忽，直接把 Chinese Dragon 改成 Loong 了，于是变成了 Loong Restaurant。

3，故事逻辑

　　虽然在过去，译龙为 loong 的情况极少，但是在港台地区和一些外国，也不是没有，所以，在一定程度上仍然可以自圆其说，但是肯定不能细究。

　　唉，千怪万怪，都怪没有早一点改译龙为 loong。

　　我虽然长期呼吁改译龙为 loong，但是仍然希望电影的历史镜头能够保持时代原貌。
