通行監視装置

日本語 から 英語 技術/工学 工学(一般) Surveillance
A device that detects the number of people in the monitoed area. Generally used to control access to areas to authorized people.
I'm finding it hard to come up with the appropriate English term.

Sorry, please neglect my question.
cinefil May 28, 2005:
Could you specify how to detect 'authorized people'? Or it detects only 'authorized persons' among the people?
Non-ProZ.com May 28, 2005:
In one incarnation, the sytem uses swipe cards, in another, fingerprints. But the device here detects the number of people who are present, in order to make sure unauthorized people don't tag along. It could use a camera, weight sensor, there are different techniques.
Passage sensor is what I had come up with before I asked.
KathyT May 28, 2005:
Do you think this is a kind of device that uses swipe cards (access cards) to monitor who, and how many people, has entered the monitored area?

personnel tracking system/device

There are many kinds of these: swipe card readers, fingerprint readers, iris (eye) readers, etc.
They generally seem to fall under the heading "personnel tracking device" (or "system") or sometimes "personnel locators" (locating system).

entry (access) control system

Access Control Systems comprise the equipment used to process visitors to secure areas. These systems may be connected to a Regional Monitoring Center, or a local area network or act as stand alone equipment. Characteristics of an access control system include the ability to process visitors, provide denial to unauthorized people, alert a responder to significant events, and provide a transaction record of authorized and unauthorized visitor attempts.
