to mount onto

Without further context, I am reading this as being the description of a merchandise display "module" for light fixtures (outdoor lighting could be assumed).

The source text could be describing how the light fixtures are being mounted onto a display wall -- perhaps even plotted in a way that creates a visual "grid" of light bulbs.

it is a difficult term to get a handle on, It sounds like a database is being established for all the clients; could this work here?
Other articles I found by googling (in German) use "Verrastern" in the context of establishing a grid or profile for a criminal to determine types of people who might be considered for a certain crime...

I didn't have the entire context then, maybe Liesl's comment makes more sense now, I guess "grid" woudl be the word, but thanks anyway
