Hello!
Just a silly question. I was trying to change the lyrics to "O Tannenbaum" referring to some Christmas-Time German homework, in an ironic way.
As we all know, the song goes:
"O Tannenbaum
O Tannenbaum
wie treu sind deine Blätter"
Now, if I wanted to say "How long are these homeworks", would it be correct to say:
"Wie lang sind diese Hausafgaben!"
Danke schön für die Hilfe!

yes you can,
although you may want to shorten the phrase to make it fit better with the song. You can cut Haus if it's obvious elsewhere that you're talking about school.

If you want to find out...
how much homework a pupil has to do, ask: Wie viele Hausaufgaben hast du?
If she/he complained about the amount of the homework, then yes: Wie lange sind die Hausaufgaben?

... wie lang die Hausaufgaben sind!
to fit it in with the melody, whereby even here you would have to pronounce or rather emphasize it a certain way, like
we lang die HausaufGAben sind!
A long GAAA
Have fun!
we lang die HausaufGAben sind!
A long GAAA
