transport for the disabled
1 trapen, per poter superare qualsiasi tipo di barriera architettonica, scale,
This is the only sentence I have with this word in it. I am doing a translation for an NPO where they describe the fittings in their disabled transport vehicles - one of them is this "trapen". I can't find anything substantial in the way of a translation for the word and would be grateful for any suggestions.
thanks in advance

Actually 'trappen' is stairs, which in popular use in this context might mean stair climber, though i found something else in Dutch websites.
If you look up 'trappen', you will find it too. Then check out 'wheelchair stair climbers', which fits the description to a tee.

: Vehicles don't have stairs unless they're double-decker buses, where a wheelchair would remain on the lower level. It could be a ramp or lifting platform to get them onto the vehicle.

I wasn't concerned with the category, but the translation problem, which was solved, if you didn't notice. As often occurs, much ado about nothing. It's a shame you take a little humor for rudeness, Phil. Sorry I touched you oh so thin skin.

Discussion
It could mean stairlift, though it says "any architectural barrier, including stairs". It could also mean ramp, or something else entirely. I'd check with the customer.
More context would help. I assume NPO means nonprofit organisation, and that they provide transport for the disabled - or do they manufacture things?
