And the snobs shall/will acclaim/extoll him, though the man himself is barely articulate

Or 'although'

Or, depending on what kind of style you need:

'And he shall be acclaimed/extolled by snobs, though he himself be barely able to articulate'

And he shall be proclaimed by snobs, though he himself be scarely/barely able to proclaim his own name

???

It gives you the 'biblical' tone - it also plays with the v. common disparagment "Him? He can barely spell his own name".

A suggestion, anyway.
