Il y a plusieurs milliers d'années, les Grecs et les Romains ont importé la technique en Europe et nombreux sont les auteurs de l'Antiquité à avoir écrit des manuels destinés à diffuser la technique au plus grand nombre. Pratiquée d'abord de façon empirique, elle commence à faire l'objet de questionnements scientifiques à partir du xixe siècle, notamment à travers les travaux de Lucien Daniel ou Vöchting.
En vieux français, greffer se disait « enter ».

I studied translation from ancient Greek and Latin at school, while studying English with mother tongue teachers, privately.
In 2000 I graduated in Foreign Languages (English and Spanish) at the University of Bari. I lived in England and Spain for some months while studying at University. I also studied Portuguese at University and I was in Lisbon in 2006 for a short holiday (3 weeks).
I was in France and Belgium for many short holidays and I finally had a course of French about two years ago in the hotel where I usually work.
In 2002/2003 I worked in Ireland teaching in a crèche and giving private lessons of Italian as a foreign language. In 2006 I attended a course about translation at the University of Bari.
My experience as a translator consists of works from different languages into Italian, althogh I also tried translations in Spanish and English
