I am an independent translator based in Ojai, California.

I have worked as a freelance translator since 1987, and I have more than 35 years of professional experience. During my first 11 years in the profession, I lived in Brazil, where I had the opportunity to work in a great variety of fields. For the past 22 years, I have been working out of my home office in California.

I have earned a Master's Degree in French Literature and a Bachelor's Degree in Romance Languages from the prestigious Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). I lived and worked in France for 2 years. I taught French literature and French language classes at UFRJ and UERJ.

I worked for the French Consulate in Rio de Janeiro as a part-time conference interpreter and translator for 10 years. I speak Portuguese, French, English and Spanish fluently and I have good knowledge of Italian.

I am an Active Member of the American Translators Association (ATA), and a member of the Northern California Translators Association (NCTA), Sindicato Nacional dos Tradutores (SINTRA), and Associação Brasileira de Tradutores (ABRATES).

My fields of specialization are Literature, Spirituality, Performing Arts, Humanities and the Environment. I also offer certified translations of diplomas, certificates, school transcripts, etc.

Languages are constantly evolving, and it is imperative to stay up to date. Some of the ways I have found to be effective in keeping up with ever-changing vocabulary and terminology are maintaining subscriptions to French and Brazilian specialized magazines, newspapers, and cable TV channels; lots of movies and books; constant contact with family and friends in Brazil and in France, and trips to both countries.

I am an amateur musician (classical singing, piano, and guitar) and I was a professional dancer for many years (classical ballet, jazz dance, and contemporary dance.) I am also a Certified Massage Therapist.

Over the years, I have seen how my diverse educational background and work experience allow me to offer truly comprehensive, accurate and uniquely valuable service to my customers.
