Lupita Urbán Ramírez.
May 7th, 2012.
I was born and brought up in Mexico City. Ours was a family of six with my parents, unfortunately my Dad passed away some years ago. My Mom and two brothers live in Mexico City, I and my eldest brother lives here in L...a Paz.
The schooling years of my life were very good. I studied all my childhood with nuns in private schools and my high school in a Jewish School where I got a scholarship to study and live in Israel. I did so. I was there for almost two years. Working in different areas and studying the language and culture.
After that I went back to do my Professional Studies as a Psychologist at Universidad Intercontinental (UIC). During my last semester I had to do some practicing at a Mental Hospital and complete 500hrs. Surprisingly at the same time I had another chance to study English in Switzerland. Again I left my country for another year and a half.Living, working and studying in those countries were wonderful experiences that I will never forget.
Coming back I began something else. I studied to be an English Teacher and started working as one immediately I finished. I taught at the same University where I studied(UIC). I worked there for 8 years. I also worked at Anglo Mexicano where I was the Academic Coordinator; I was in charge of Company Courses. It was there where I met my husband.
Academically I was a good student throughout my life. While I was working I did 6 semesters of English Letters at UNAM, which I had to stop because of the birth of my daughter. Her health was not very good with the pollution of Mexico City, sowe moved to La Paz.
I started working at the University (UABCS) in 1993.My work at the beginning was to teach English but later there was a need to teach Spanish. As I didn’t fell prepared for that, I studied a specialization to Be Able to teach Spanish as a Foreign Language at the National University of Mexico (UNAM). Since then I update my studies at CEPE-UNAM every two years.
My career in Teachingcontinued smoothly with great satisfactions. I have taken and given different courses in diverse cities in Mexico (La Paz,Tijuana, Ensenada, Loreto, Mexico City) and abroad United States and Honduras. I have given Speeches about teaching English or Spanish for Specific Proposes.
I had the privilege to be the Head of the Language Department at UABCS for a period of three years. Organizing courses and working with language teachers is something I have done for years, and I am good in that.
I believe a Language teacher has to be updated in various areas, because of that I constantly prepare myself to give my best in both areas English and Spanish I have just finished my professional studies to Teach English as a Second Language . I will continue training myself academically here or in a foreign country. I always say that as long as the brain functions we have to continue preparing ourselves.
