Dear Colleagues, I just wanted to advice you against installing windows 8.1 on a VM. The first big problem is that with windows 8.1 characters cannot be displayed in a big size, but only in a medium size, otherwise the windows will appear blurred. Moreover, windows 8.1 changes also the setting of some softwares, among which Babylon 10, that stops working and Intelliwebsearch..

Screen resolution
Nov 19, 2013
I don't have Win 8.1 but I've read elsewhere that there are big issues with resolution and blurred text as you describe. It's a general problem for Windows users, not just those who use a VM.
Thanks for the warning about IWS problems with 8.1.

Touch techno

My tech advisor tells me that W8 is mainly designed for touch-screen technology so if you're working on a "normal" keypad/mouse setup PC or laptop there's not much point in installing it at all.

Windows 8 works fine, 8.1 is the problem
Nov 19, 2013
Thank you for your answers. The problem is that Windows 8 works perfectly fine and doesn't change the resolution of my monitor. Moreover, it still has the option "use resizing of style of Windows XP" (my translation) (in personalized sizing options) that adjusts the resolution once I set the font size to big.. Windows 8.1 change the resolution and lacks this option..

In other words, Bruno,
Nov 19, 2013
you're posting on the wrong sub-forum. As usual, software and hardware problems don't have anything to do with "Apple/Mac operating systems." Besides, who wants to run Windows on a Mac?
Cheers,
Hans

Just a crazy translator who saves many hours, because mac computers don't freeze every now and then like computers who run windows. Indeed, my problem is with windows and has nothing to do with the VM..
