Hello!
I have been sent a document to be translated in Pagemaker. But part of the files are iimages, i.e. gif and jpeg files. Is there any possibility to convert them, so that I can translate the text in Pagemaker or any other programme? Thank you to everyone who is willing to help me!!!!

I agree with the previous answer. Are you sure you need to translate the text associated with the image?

You could always scan it into the PageMaker with a good OCR program such as FineReader.

Or you could try this (I use Word XP):
Click on "my computer" (windows explorer)
Find where you image is stored.
Right click on image, and a text box will show up which has several choices.

The best result in my opinion is from scanning it to your computer using a good OCR.

Image editing sw, or just a plain table Sep 6, 2003

If you have been requested to translate the text in images too, then you need to use an image-editing sw and have access to the original image files - assuming they contain text in an editable format, and not just as bitmaps.
But check this with the client first; this usually requires extra time, and therefore extra money, as it involves layout/DTP skills as well.

Or: provide the client with a neat table with original text on one side and translated text on the other. The client will then deal with folding it into the images.

Another alternative, depending on the contents and nature of the document, is to provide image translation as a caption, next to the image. But again, you need to discuss this with the client.
