This state of things, mentionned in the above article regarding Haitian creole, is an awful token of the reluctance former colonial empires show in the "letting go of the slaves" process. The same state of things remains in the islands of Martinique, Guadeloupe and in the French Guyana region. French speakers of creole culture, even when they prove to be the best in their mastery of the French language and professional fields are still being considered by continental French speakers (sometimes with a lesser grasp of French language complexity) with little better than contempt.
