God I hate writing like this.
Newsflash: covering a lot of distance doesn't make you anything like a great athlete. Pretty much anyone can run a lot if they have good joints and it's their life's goal to run a lot. It's really unremarkable as an athletic achievement.
On the other hand, if you want to beat Haile Gebrselassie to the line, you'll need a hell of a lot more than willpower.

Sorry, this sort of writing about sports is one of my pet peeves.
