Bio
I am a Faculty of Commerce graduate and throughout my career, I acquired a good experience in several commercial fields, as an accountant clerk in the U.S.A. and afterwards at a commercial international bank in Egypt for almost five years in several departments among which are the Documentary Credit as well as Correspondence, Personnel, Time Deposits and Information departments.

Later on, I worked for about five years as a correspondent/ translator at an import & export company mainly specialized in importing frozen meat and fish from Europe and elsewhere.

As from January 1995, I joined Eldib Advocates, one of the leading and most reputable law firms in Egypt and the Middle East, mainly specialized in the Maritime Law, banking, acquisitions, patent law, intellectual property rights, trademarks, arbitration etc… . I believe that of my most significant achievements throughout my career is that I have been able to improve and progress in my current job despite the fact that at the time I joined Eldib almost ten years ago, my knowledge in law was essentially limited to rather general concepts.

Hence, I had to study law in general and legal terms in English, French and Arabic as an essential tool in any translation of a judgment, an article of law or a report and/or legal opinion . For that, I joined the British Council where I was awarded on December 1996 the First Certificate in English (FCE), Grade B from University of Cambridge.

I was chosen by my company to attend a Lloyds P&I seminar which was held in London on October 1998 and I obtained the relevant certificate of completion the said seminar gaining 18 hours of Law Society credits. I was also chosen represent our company in several meetings locally in Alexandria, Cairo and Port Said and abroad in Malta and Cyprus as a correspondent and interpreter from English to Arabic and vice versa.

I have also applied for registration in the commercial register to become a patent attorney. I obtained the relevant certificate for inscription in the Patent Attorneys Register of the Ministry of Supply and Home Trade since February 2002.

On November, 2002 , I was allowed to attend the Course for International Arbitrators held under the auspices of the Alexandria University, the Faculty of Law, the Center for Legal and Economic Studies, Research and Services and was granted the relevant certificate from the Faculty of Law allowing me to work in the Arbitration field. I attended a further refreshment course in the same field last year.

In addition to my current full time job, I have been working also for my company as a part time translator as they decided, upon my request, to put into service my large experience in the correspondence field in translating the relevant judgments issued in the different degrees of litigation as well as arbitrational awards together with the legal and commercial subjects that are regularly referred to the law firm I work at.

I also work as a free lance translator to many reputable translation centers in Alexandria, including the office of Mrs. Nadia Nassef, sworn translator with whom I have been working for the last ten years now where I acquired a large experience in English and French translation to Arabic and vice versa of all types of documents referred to the office. I also worked for the office of Mrs. Nadia Nassef as translator and interpreter for the Great American Insurance Company and their lawyer Mr. Harold Kingsley of Kingsley & Kingsley Law Firm.

Should any further clarification be required, please do not hesitate to call me at my home number: +2 03 5456154 or you may use my e-mail: [email protected] or my Mobile phone number: +2 (012) 3273624.

Yours faithfully

Ahmed H. Esmat
