Thanks for all your tips, but I'd rather prefer working with shortcut keys. Doing an uppercase accented letter seems quite difficult in this way, as you need to press shift+letter+ move to the requested accented letter.
Moreover, I would also need this to be used in Wordfast PRO 3 and 4. Currently, I write the lowercase letter and then I use the Toggle case key, but it is still a waste of time.

I have my keyboard set up for English and French and press a quick shortcut to toggle between them. (Being able to touch-type in both languages is required for that to work.) However, that doesn't solve the problem of upper case accented letters, which the link above does.
