1. Always calculate the fees into your rates...and mention it to the clients while quoting. 2. Try to see if your bank has a branch in the USA...maybe you can set it up that way and then you can transfer USD directly into your bank account (if it's affiliated). 3. "freezing" the amount in paypal accounts are something I've heard of too, but for a while i had a solid figure stored in there and didnt take it out and it was fine...obviously the feeling of letting money sit... Wait for the best exchange rate...but RMB is fluctuating quite a bit too no? 5. I absolutely agree with wiring/bank transfer for bigger amounts- safer, easier to track down the rates (so the surprise might not turn out to be as nasty...), plus, you can always check between different banks to see which one offers the best rates with wiring.
