I am using Word 2004 on a Mac with OSX Panther. I have updated all my software, scanned for viruses and replaced normal.dot more than once.
Problem: With random frequency, when I add a word to my custom dictionary Word just shuts down. Often, when I restart Word I can add words with no problem, but I always cross my fingers.
Has this ever happened to you?

Well, my dictionary is much smaller than 10,000 words, I'm sure. And another thing that makes me skeptical of your theory is that the problem occurs randomly; sometimes I can add words with no problem. But you have given me some ideas and I am going to do some more trouble shooting. Thank you for your help.
