Put it in savings Sep 18, 2017

Right now I'm in the mood to build up my savings -- like 41% of our colleagues (so far). I wouldn't like to see it frittered away. I'd want to make it count toward something really big and special. I know too well that money can slip through my fingers with nothing to show for it.

If it said 10k, I would start thinking about a special purpose.
1k makes no odds and would just be spent the same as any earnings.
