Sorry. I wasn't aware of such a rule. I'm new to Proz.com...

My question was for the term "ニカドバン", and not the entire sentence. Actually it is just a part of sentence, and it was to help answeres understand the context...I might have input the term at wrong place, I hope you understand my intention.

Expanding trend of banning NiCd batteries as seen in Europe...

Dear Miyazaki-san,

I think your guess is right. I have searched for some information on the internet, and there really seems to be banning of this type of battery taking place in the EU countries.

So, you could probably translate it as:

expanding trend of banning NiCd batteries as seen in Europe, driven by the increasing global environmental concern.

Hope this helps :)

agree Madeleine McMullin : Yes that seems right, but there is no need for a"the" in front of "global environmental concern"

Ni-Cad batteries are hazardous and have been linked to cancers."
European Parliament confirmed on Tuesday that it wants an EU ban
on cadmium in batteries, effectively demanding an end to
NiCad batteries, which leach toxic cadmium, a known carcinogen,
into the environment when they become waste.
