原書のテキスト - 英語 Meteorological data are presented for the area 25o55’N-26o10’N, 11o55’E-12o05’E. This area is located in south-west Libya in the Sahara desert.
The area is very arid with slight, irregular rainfall. Annual mean rainfall is about 17mm, although average conditions can be misleading as a large proportion of the annual rainfall can be concentrated in a single heavy storm. The maximum rainfall in 24 hours is expected to be about 30mm. Maximum annual rainfall is expected to be about 40mm. It is also possible to go a period of 2-3 years without a fall of over 0.1mm in 24 hours. Average number of rain days is less than 3 per year.
Temperatures are very high during the day, with summer maximum temperatures exceeding 40oC. There is a large diurnal variation; temperatures are cool at night and can fall below freezing in winter.
Visibility is generally good with visibility greater than 5 miles for over 90% of the time and over 1 mile for 99% of the time. The visibility figures give an indication of dust and sandstorm frequency, as this is the major cause of obstruction to visibility in this area.
Data sources
The data tables presented are based on observations at a range of stations. The nearest station for which a detailed data record is available is Ghadames (30o08’N, 09o30’E), however this is located about 300nm north of the area of interest and is expected to experience less severe conditions. Limited data is also available for Sebha (27o01’N, 14o27’E) and Ghat (24o55’N, 10o12’E). Where possible conditions at the study area have been estimated based on a consideration of the available data at the above stations taking into account the expected spatial variation in conditions. In the case of wind frequency tables the data presented is for Ghadames, which is the nearest station for which this information is available.

The institute was founded in 1961 and has evolved over more than 40 years from a design team. Ever since, the institute has been taking on all the tasks of planning, survey, design and scientific research on Jilin Oilfield surface engineering construction. The institute has completed nearly 20 integrated oilfields and some tasks of survey and design for local important projects. The institute has made important contributions to local economic contribution and Jilin Oilfield ascending the sixth big oilfield in China by an annual output production of five million tons.
At present, there are 379 staffs on the job in the institute, including 306 technicians. There are 71 senior engineers and 146 engineers among those technicians. The technical backbones in the institute include the Registered National first-grade Construction Engineer, the Registered National first-grade framework Engineer, and the Registered National Consulting Engineer, all of which add up to 49 plus. A technical group has come into being, of which the lead is taken by provincial design masters and excellent-design-engineers in petroleum industry. Nearly 30 specialties are set up, including oil-gas gathering and transportation, oil-gas storage and transportation, oil-gas treatment, water injection in oilfield, waster water treatment, water-supply-and-drainage and fire-protection, corrosion-protection and heat-preservation, facilities and machinofacture, industrial and civil construction, electric power, communication, instrument and automatization, heat engineering, warm-heating and ventilation, computer application, engineering economy, engineering measure, engineering geology.
The institute has many kinds of qualification certificates, such as, first-grade comprehensive institute of the major branch in petroleum and natural gas industry, first-grade architectural engineering in construction industry, second-grade in civil utility service (including fuel gas, water supply, water drainage, heat engineering, way), design for pressure vessels of class I, II, III, design for pressure piping of GA, GB, GC, second-grade geotechnical engineering survey, first-grade engineering consultation, second-grade engineering general contract. The institute passed the ISO 9001: 1994 version of quality system standard authentication, in September, 1999, and passed the change-in-version authentication, i.e. the ISO 9001:2000 version of quality system standard authentication in September, 2002.
Among the outstanding achievements which have been accomplished since 1980, successively 63 carried off the prizes of excellent engineering design achievements at national or provincial/departmental level, and more than 200 carried off the prizes of advancement in science and technology at bureau’s level. The institute is possessed of many mature oil-field surface-engineering technologies suiting the production characteristic of Jilin Oilfield.
