All processes, from placing sample membrane strips on the dedicated tray (up to 48 membrane strips), to dispensing and aspirating the reagents, are performed automatically. The instrument is capable of running up to 20 programs, each consisting of up to 60 steps.
This instrument is intended for preparing samples. It is an automated system with a control computer to prepare samples for analysis, consisting of various testing devices like sample handlers, a processor and robotic components. When I take a walk in Senba or Shimanouchi and come across homes with snug latticework and long-established shops with plastered, old-fashioned walls, I have to think of the old Nihonbashi and the homes of my elementary school friends. Except for my friend of the Kairakuen, none of them is still living in the same place as then. The Tanizaki main and branch families too, which used to be located in Kayabachō, Horiechō and Suginomori – all within a radius of five, six hundred meters from Kakigarachō – moved to those suburbs I previously called “colder than Hokkaidō,” or even further, to Korea and Brazil. With some of them I lost all contact after my aunts and uncles died, and I don’t have the slightest clue where they could be now. Think of it, the Nihonbashikko have had a hell of a time. ‘Welnu, wat voor nieuws? Vertel me iets dat ik nog niet weet!’ snoefde hij bij zichzelf. Bij nadere inspectie bestonden hun zogenaamde filosofieën haast uitsluitend uit zaken die de Indiërs, de Grieken of hijzelf in het verleden reeds vaag hadden aangevoeld, bedacht of gehoord. Al wat ze deden, was deze zaken op een systematische en logische manier uiteenzetten. Van baanbrekende ontdekkingen geen spoor. Zijn interesse wegdragen konden ze niet of ze waren het niet waard. I am working as a translator and interpreter of Japanese, English and Dutch since 2006 (sworn since 2009).
After obtaining my first M.A. from the Japanese Studies Department at Ghent University (with Great Distinction), I was awarded with a Japanese Government scholarship to study Japanese literature at the prestigious universities of Waseda and Sophia (obtaining a second M.A. with the maximum GPA at the latter).
I lived in Tokyo for nearly 5 years and now combine a position as part-time lecturer at the Ghent University Japanese Studies Department with translation and interpretation work.
Over 17 years of practicing the Japanese language have honed my Japanese skills to a superb level, which allowed me to attain the exceptionally high JLPT score of 362. Although Dutch is my mother tongue, I also dare say my command of English is close to native level. Attesting to this are my TOEIC (950) and TOEFL iBT (110) scores.
