I am very interested in this topic because I disconnected from the sector few years ago and this seems to give me very useful tools to start again.

Hello Lucinda, I personally believe that Trados is perfect for newbies. Not only is the new version very easy to use, they also have a lot of videos online on how to use Trados with tips and recommendations.
Good luck. | |

For newbies, what software is recommended? I partially answer this question in the video of the presentation by saying that the best one is the one that helps you get your job done. There is no ultimate best tool, like there is no best mobile phone, nor best camera, nor best car, nor best house, nor best bike, etc. The best one is the one which helps fit your needs. Some tools are more novice friendly, and some are good for intense localization geeks. Most of them give free trial periods to help make a decision. And many of them have started providing online tutorials and training sessions to get started.

personal blog necessary? | Sep 30, 2015 |
Would it be advisable to spend some time in developing and maintaining one's personal blog posting not only service-related info but also personal thoughts on general things in life, etc?
Thanks, Jeff! | Sep 30, 2015 |
Hey Jeff - I've been going back and forth between your presentation and breakfast/baby duties here at home. Really enjoying your tips, and will be looking forward to checking the full presentation later.

I've been busy and I was late for the presentation, but I find the information very clearly presented and I'm looking forward to listening the whole presentation. Besides, I feel that you talk from your experience and I appreciate so much that you give us this chance to learn. Thank you so much!

Hi there, this is Alvis Yu from Taiwan. I'd like to extend my gratitude to you for taking your valuable time to prepare and deliver this talk. Though I missed most of the talk due to a technical difficulty on my laptop, I can't wait to watch the full vid once it is available.
Thanks for offering your tips to us freelance translator newbies! Much appreciated it.

Thanks Amalia. This corresponds to the about about talking about what one knows. Many people have taught me things throughout life and during my career, and it is a privilege to pass it on to others, who will hopefully do the same.

Hey Scott, De nada. I know that there is still an outstanding question from you in the queue of questions asked during the presentation. I will answer each question but just need to get through the marathon of presentations/panel sessions today.
