原書のテキスト - インドネシア語 Mungkin semestinya aku membahas ini dari beberapa bulan lalu. Tapi tampaknya, pihak Kadokawa selaku penerbit bermaksud untuk menganimasikan seluruh karya penulis LN Nisio Isin.
Upaya pertama mereka dimulai tahun lalu dengan Bakemonogatari, kisah cinta aneh yang diselipi kasus-kasus janggal yang berkaitan dengan makhluk-makhluk halus, yang lumayan membuatku suka. Hingga kini anime Bakemonogatari masih berlanjut lewat perilisan episode-episode bab terakhirnya(?), Tsubasa Cat, secara berkala di Web.
Upaya kedua mereka yang dimulai pada awal tahun 2010 ini adalah Katanagatari, yang lumayan menuai hype karena satu, ini cerita samurai di tengah trend anime yang kayak begini; dua, ini ternyata bukan cerita samurai sebagaimana yang dibayangkan orang; dan tiga, karena draft skenario dan skema-skema rancangan awalnya sempat bocor(!) di Internet bahkan sebelum episode pertamanya keluar.
Buset, perkembangan parah macem apaan nih?
Eniwei, Bakemonogatari bab Tsubasa Cat mengisahkan kasus terkini yang harus dihadapi Araragi Koyomi saat gadis bintang kelas yang sering diandalkannya, Hanekawa Tsubasa, kembali kambuh masalah supernaturalnya akibat tekanan stres yang timbul dari permasalahan keluarganya. Sang siluman kucing kembali telah merasuki Tsubasa. Sementara di sisi lain, Oshino Meme, sang ahli tempat Koyomi seringkali meminta bantuan, telah menegaskan bahwa ia takkan selamanya berada di sisi Koyomi. Menyadari isyarat bahwa Oshino tak lama lagi mungkin akan pergi, Koyomi mulai berusaha untuk bisa menyelesaikan masalah-masalahnya sendiri yang nyata-nyata terjadi karena keberadaannya sebagai seorang semi-vampir.
Katanagatari sendiri mengisahkan petualangan pewaris ilmu pedang aliran Kyotouryuu (aliran ilmu pedang tanpa pedang) Yasuri Shichika bersama Togame, sang ahli siasat, dalam melacak dan menemukan 12 pedang keramat buatan Shichizaki Kiki yang konon bila dikumpulkan, pemilik kesemuanya akan bisa menguasai dunia (klise?). Artwork-nya khas dengan desain karakter yang menarik, seolah menandai bahwa seri ini memang lebih banyak berfokus ke dialog daripada aksi (yang menjadi alasan kekecewaan cukup banyak orang). Dialog di sini adalah dialog khas Nisio Isin yang penuh sarkasme dan inti-inti pembicaraan yang sebenarnya lumayan konyol. Ya, ada sentuhan humor ga jelas di sana-sini. Lalu dengan jalinan plot yang sebenarnya teramat sederhana, tak diragukan bahwa daya tarik anime ini sesungguhnya terdapat pada para karakternya sendiri. Jadi bagi mereka yang mencari anime samurai ‘murni’ yang berat dan rada berdarah-darah, kalian mencari di tempat yang benar-benar salah. Episode-episodenya berdurasi hampir satu jam dan keluar secara bulanan(!). Hingga saat tulisan ini dibuat, seri ini sudah mencapai episode ketiga.
Meski menurutku secara pribadi tak sebagus Bakemonogatari, sebagai penggemar Isin, Katanagatari lumayan bisa kusukai kok. Karakter-karakternya cukup menarik. Togame, sang utusan keshogunan, yang semestinya menaruh dendam pada Shichika sebagai putra pembunuh ayahnya, mungkin pula karena desakan keadaan, malah membujuk (…) Shichika untuk bekerja atas dasar cinta padanya, gara-gara semua orang lain yang telah diutus untuk mencari kedua belas pedang tersebut selalu saja berkhianat. Shichika yang selama ini hidup sederhana dan pas-pasan dan dipandang tak perlu punya pedang dipandang cocok untuk tugas ini karena dinilai tak mungkin terpikat pada keindahan pedang-pedang itu atau tergoda oleh peluang kekayaan yang bisa didapatkan seandainya dunia dikuasai.
Yah, satu-satunya hal yang membuatku rada heran sekarang ialah kapan adaptasi anime dari seri misteri Zaregoto keluar. Padahal bukankah itu cerita Isin yang novelnya pertama terbit?
翻訳 - 英語 Maybe I should've talk about this a few months ago, but it seems that Kadokawa, the famous publisher of light novel in Japan, has the intention to make all of Nisio Isin's work into anime adaptation.
The publisher's first attempt was a year back with Bakemonohatari, a weird love story with some spices of weird cases relating to the 'unseen' which I am quite fond of. Up until now Bakemonogatari is still on-going and now has reached the latest chapter that is published on the internet, the Tsubasa Cat chapter.
The second attempt was made in early 2010, which is Katanagatari, a pretty hyped-up samurai story because for one, this can be considered bold seeing how different it was from the main stream anime these days. Two, it has an unexpected story, just not like your regular samurai adventure story. And third, the draft for the story was leaked to the internet even before the first episode aired.
Damn, what kind of development was that?
Anyway, Bakemonogatari on Tsubasa Cat chapter tells about a recent case that is happening to the hero if the story, Araragi Koyomi. The case start when the goody-two-shoes girl in his class which he often relies on, Hanekawa Tsubasa, get back with her supranatural problem because of the stressful atmosphere since she has a family problem. The cat spirit back on a roll and possess Tsubasa. Meanwhile, on the other hand Oshino Meme, the shaman where Koyomo often ask for help, warn Koyomi that he won't be there to help forever. Understanding this as a sign that Oshino will be gone in the near future, Koyomi tried to solve those supranatural problems by himself. The spiritual cases were coming to him because of his existance as a half-vampire from the start.
Katanagatari itself tells the adventure of the heir of Sword Technique, Kyotouryuu (a sword technique which does not use any sword) called Yasuri Shichika, along with Togame, a strategist, in tracing and gathering all the 12 sacred swords forged y Shichizaki Kiki, which is claimed that when you can gather all the twelve swords, you can rule the world (cliche?). The artwork is really original and the characters are interesting, shown by how the show seems to be focusing more on the dialogue between characters with less actions (which makes lost of people disappointed). The dialogue between characters here is very Nisio Isin-like, with all the sarcasm and long conversation about something that is actually not that important, seen to the level of ridiculous. There is also a touch of weird humor sense here and there too. And then with an (actually) simple plot, there is no doubt that the interesting point of this anime is the characters. So for those who are looking for a pure samurai-like anime with blood and actions, you are looking in the wrong place. The episodes are almost an hour each and they are aired every month (!). So when this article was being made, the series was already in its third episode.
Tough personally I think it is not as good as Bakemonogatari, as a fan of Isin, I pretty much like Katanagatari. The characters are interesting. Togame as one of the people from the Shogunate, which should have a grudge against Shichika since he was the son of her father's murderer, (maybe because of the situation calls) turn and invite Shichika to work for her in the name of love. It is because the other people she hire to gather all the twelve swords always betray her. Shichika wish has been leading a peaceful and simple life and feels no need of sword, is seen as the one who will fit perfectly for the mission because he won't be interested on the beauty of those sacred swords or the chance of being rich from world domination.
Well, the only thing that makes me rather surprised is the fact that there has been no talk on the anime adaptation of Zaregoto. It is the first story that Isin made and being published isn't it?
