Italian term

procuratore (in context)

Italian to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) Articles of Association
In the context of Articles of Association, is this an attorney, proxy or other?

Il Consiglio di Amministrazione potra altresi nominare, anche fra i propri membri, un Direttore generale ed uno o piu Direttori e Procuratori determinandone le attribuzioni ed i poteri, con facolta di subdelega.

Thank you.

Discussion

Michael Korovkin Feb 1, 2009:
procuratori "attorney-in-fact" is tricky here: if you read on you see "attributions and powers", while a-i-f is bound by his/her position to certain duties that cannot be arbitrarily, pardon me, "dis-attributed". "procuratore" (see arch. 'procurator") is simply, pardon me again, a glorified "gofer". So, the best translation is "PROXY"
Amy Christie (asker) Jan 31, 2009:
Another mention in the text: L'Amministratore Unico potra nominare *procuratori* e delegati per specifici atti o per categorie di atti, determinandone i poteri, con facolta di subdelega.
Amy Christie (asker) Jan 31, 2009:
Thanks Arrigo I did even consider something more generic such as 'representative'?

deputy,representative

I think a more generic meaning is better in this context!

attorney-in-fact

This is the legal term, however, I tend to agree with the colleague that suggested representative in this context.

proxy

avoids all legalistic scrambles re. a rather cumbersome "a person with a power of attorney" or "attorney-in-fact"
Example sentence:

...to nominate co-directors and proxies..., etc...

Executive officers (in context)

These are people like the CEO and the "direttori" who are senior managers and not necessarily "consiglieri", although in reality they are almost always board members.
