Dutch term

herinzaaien en doorgroeien

Dutch to English Other Agriculture leeks & carrots
I'm translating a text on leeks/carrots/celeriac and the companies that grow/process this food. The sentences I'm having trouble with are:

- "Droge weeromstandigheden en het herinzaaien van sommige velden zorgden voor een moeilijk begin" - this one is related to the carrot season in Germany.

- ... een goed ras en snel inkoelen voorkomt doorgroei [prei].

Thanks in advance!

reseeding and (continued) growth

These are actually two questions.

Herinzaaien - reseeding

This means that new seeds are planted a while after the initial seeding, i.e. between existing plants. This term is mostly used for lawns, however.

Doorgroeien - (continued) growth

Leek spoils relatively quickly after harvesting, but if you cool it soon after harvesting it is better preserved, and the cold also stops continued growth.

Thank you!

agree writeaway : this is definitely 2 questions but unfortunately, once someone has answered, the question can no longer be squashed.
