When we live in a community filled with people different from ourselves, there are people and interactions that make us more or less comfortable than others. Change and growth happens only when something is perceived to be an issue…an irregularity, a discomfort. We call the edge of our comfort zone the learning edge. When we are on the learning edge, we are most open to expanding our knowledge and understanding – as well as expanding our comfort zone itself. Being on this edge means that we may feel annoyed, angry, anxious, surprised, confused, defensive, or in some other way uncomfortable in response to something someone else has said or done. These reactions are a natural part of the process of expanding our comfort zones, and when we recognize them as such, we can use them as part of the learning process – signaling to us that we are at the learning edge, ready to expand our knowledge and understanding. The challenge is to recognize when we are on a learning edge and then to stay there with the discomfort we are experiencing to see what we can learn.

What was meant by the question was this:

Deepening your skills
Personal development
Expanding your awareness/enlightenment
Attracting prosperity
Building more meaningful relationships
Having more joy
Making a difference in the world

Have you noticed that the list above might also be a person’s core values?

Learning edges stretch us to be our best. Learning edges can encompass both strengths and challenges. They are places in our lives where we bump up against people or things. They invite us to step out of our comfort zones; to push beyond barriers so that we become more than we are.

grazie per il contesto. Allora io credo che sia più chiaro tradurre "limiti di apprendimento". Tipo: Dobbiamo essere capaci di riconoscere e sperimentare i nostri limiti di apprendimento. Anche perché prima parla di "comfort zone - risk", quindi una zona sicura, in cui ci si sente a proprio agio, e qui esplicita invece l'idea di andare oltre quest'ambito e sperimentare cose che possono mettere a disagio, ma che possono anche mostrare come, se non si ha paura di rischiare, si possano imparare cose nuove.
