Künstlerroman, Künstlernovelle, and Künstlerdrama, designations of novels, Novellen, and plays which have an artist (in any branch of creative art) as the central character.
Tristan (1903), Thomas Mann’s first fully developed Künstlernovelle (artist novella), was originally rejected by the Neue Deutsche Rundschau as unsuitable for publication, but was later published by Samuel Fischer.
