a spotless translation of the following 2,500 - 3,000 words legal - economics field (such as a contract) from your mother tongue into your best managed foreign language in 8 hours or less, starting from 2 p.m.?

From the point of view of someone who is both a lawyer and a translator, I can tell you legal translation by non-lawyers sadly underdelivers, while most lawyers won't have the language skill to do it right, either. Rule No. 1. in business Never refuse a contract when it is well paid. Why? Because you can always subcontract some of it. By so doing, you gain less rather than gaining nothing. | | | I can not do it myself | Jul 3, 2016 |
Me not, but I can find somebody who will and whose mother language it is.

I generally am able to translate 2500 to 3000 words a day - a day being generally 8 hours of work. So this would be routine work for me. I also understand that in many East European countries, it is normal for mother tongue translators to translate into their non-mother-tongue English if they have sufficient command over English. So this is not something that I would consider weird or undoable. Of course, I would feel much more comfortable if I had more time, but diffic... Samuel, that's what I meant, I just put it short. Now, I do not receive different or better payments when I translate from my mother tongue into a foreign language. I declined the project, I could not have delivered a translation matching my standards. Time was the only issue, both as time span and as starting hour.

I remember it took my lawyer (a bilingual English and Chinese lawyer practicing in New York) 8 months to write a less than 200 word job description of the position I was holding, which he needed to include in my immigration petition. It turned out that he only knew how to write job descriptions for IT people, Double E engineers, librarians, and cooks, etc., because most of the employment-based immigration applicants at that time fell in these job categories. He had a job description template for each of these jobs and he just needed to modify the template a little bit for each applicant. Since he had never written anything that was even close to my job, he just had no hint about how to deal with my case, no matter how hard I explained it to him.

[Edited at 2016-07-04 20:07 GMT] In my country, it's like Balasubramaniam L. said. We are trained for that, both during high-school and during college. However, it was the number of words/time relation which bothered me.
