Bonsoir à tous et à toutes,
J'ai une tâche lourde : la relecture de 2200 mots sur la pêche.
Eh oui, on m'a demandé de corriger un texte qui était censé être bourré de fautes. J'ai accepté croyant qu'il s'agissait de fautes d'orthographe, de grammaire... ben non. Le client se plaint de la termino utilisée par le traducteur, évidemment mal choisie. Mon problème ? Je sais enfiler le ver sur l'hameçon, je ne connais pas par contre le lingo de la pêche.

C'et pour un détecteur de poisson, un échosondeur (?) Y aurait-il par hasard un lexique là-dessus, ang-fr, pour m'aider?

Leur site pourrait peut-être t'aider et il a la vertu d'être bilingue. Je l'ai parcouru rapidement, mais je n'ai pas trouvé de lexique.

The good old GDT Feb 27, 2004

As I translate almost exclusively nautical and maritime texts, I can assure you that the Grand Dictionnaire is perfectly reliable in this domain. The Canadian gvt fishing site is bi-lingual. Refs later :

Might be wise to inform your client that you are being asked to check the terminology of a text for which you confess not having specialist knowledge.

Perhaps start by checking out the sections which are appropriate to your context :

And take it from there. You will systematically find each page available in French and English. Quite honestly though, the fastest way round it will probably be to use the GDT, perhaps checking the Fisheries/Strategis sites for original language context confirmation.
