日本語 term

病態組織の終末像として捉えられ

日本語 から 英語 医療 医療(一般)
Hi, could anyone please help with this term, particularly with '終末像'. I can find reference to it in Japanese, but I cannot come up with a clear and concise English term. This is in regards to ectopic calcification. Thank you

Discussion

David Gibney Sep 21, 2013:
You are correct in thinking end-stage is usually translated as 末期 and 像 is used for images from medical scans but here 像 is more like 物の形, or 姿 and should not be translated literally.
Marnie Levy (asker) Sep 21, 2013:
Wouldn't end-stage be rather '終末期"? '像' is like an image or view, so it has confused me here.
David Gibney Sep 20, 2013:
I think "terminal stage" is another possibility, though less commonly used.

agree Shannon Spears : Yes, as in the simpler example "エイズはエイズウイルスHIVに起因し,その感染の終末像として起こる"

日本語 term (edited): 終末像

end-stage

Seems to be, in general, the worst condition of a disease or organ.

According to a medical glossary:

End-Stage Disease
The very worst condition of an organ or disease state. At this point the organ is barely functioning. Examples: End stage kidney disease means the kidneys have shut down and the patient needs dialysis; End stage heart disease means the heart is functioning very poorly and may need mechanical support or transplantation in order for the patient to survive.
