hola,
I ask without checking if this question has already been raised in the forum.
SDL 2022, the project comes from memoq converted to xliff and neither italics nor bold is active.
Is there any way to activate italics?
italic and other functions appear grey, not highlighted

TOPIC STARTER machine answer on RWS | Aug 30 |
I have asked in
he preguntado en
https://community.rws.com/product-groups/trados-portfolio/trados-studio/f/studio/54216/how-to-apply-italics-when-they-are-not-active-como-poner-algo-en-cursiva-cuando-no-esta-activa-la-funcion
Hola,

Can you re-export the project from memoQ, ensuring all formatting options are enabled and correctly set?
Or ask to your client to do that?
Here's how to do it:
Open the original project in memoQ.
When exporting to XLIFF, please check that all formatting options are enabled.
Look for "Include formatting" or "Preserve tags" and see if they are checked.

Use the feature "Copy Source to Target" to ensure that all source formatting and tags are carried over to the target segments.
After copying, export the project again as XLIFF.
As an alternative, if you continue to see the problem, try to export the project as a bilingual DOC or RTF file, which may preserve formatting better.
After re-exporting, import the new XLIFF or DOC/RTF file into Trados and check if the formatting is correct. TOPIC STARTER

Xliff is a plain format | Aug 30 |
When you add a docx file into memoQ, memoQ can read the original formatting. When you export your file into a plain format like xliff, memoQ replaces all formatting information with its tags. Trados can't read memoQ's tags. Hence no formatting in the xliff export file. The same would happen if you try to add a xliff file from Trados into memoQ. Actually it always works that way when you exchange xliff files between different CAT tools.

OGV, when I found your post here, I couldn't find the "Reply" button, only "Tell a Friend" was visible.
I had to call a moderator to make it visible and reply to you. I believe something went wrong when you posted your question.

Is there a plugin for that?
I am not aware of plugins or apps for that...

I believe something went wrong when you posted your question. This is because of the link to the RWS Community. It is in the same string along with the 'See more' link. Hence the issue. You can't either 'see more' or navigate to the RWS site.

TOPIC STARTER What was the reason of the issue? | Aug 31 |
The issue was due to some mistake from my side when writing the entry?
I added the link pasting it, not aware of having mixed links.
Was then any error in the edition from site staff?
The question here is how avoid this in future entries.
And thanks for your explanation Stepan, I have passed to the agency PMs for they have in mind next time as italics are essential in these texts.

I think that this is rather a question for the mQ forum, since:
- Add some {i}placeholders{/i} in Trados to markup text that should be in italics.
- Open the xliff in mQ.
- Use Find and Replace with italics formatting in (ask in the mQ forum if this is possible, just like in Ms Word).
- Remove the markup.

The question here is how avoid this in future entries. Use the preview feature before you make a new post. Usually you can see that by the color of the See more link. If it is cyan, it's ok. If it is maroon, it is not ok.
Also you can edit (within 24 hours) your posted message and move the link up or down in the text to remove it from its problem position.
