日本で上映される映画ではまず使われることは無い手法だが、例外的にたとえば映画・「ラストサムライ」は英語と日本語の会話がたがいに入り混じる内容であるため（トム・クルーズが日本語を、また渡辺謙が英語を話すシーンなどがある）、DVD版の日本語吹き替え音声にはボイスオーバー形式が採用されている。 主に、ドキュメンタリーや情報番組においての注意点だが、海外の人々の生の発言(原語)を本当に理解している日本人は少ない。そのため、我々がそれらの番組から情報を得る際、ほとんどが翻訳された日本語に頼っている。にもかかわらず、実際には原語の内容とは一部、または全く内容の違う翻訳がなされている場合があるので注意も必要である。これはテレビ番組 (「発掘!あるある大辞典」など)においての捏造問題、やらせにもつながる。 (Wikipedia)
