: I'd agree with the" right now" portion, as "immediate" means "direct, straight" into the listener's experience. But that can also work with older music.

: In this context, the word could mean both "very right now" and "connecting to the audience." However, 色あせていない here has the connotation that it has not faded even after so much time has passed. I would put "時代に即した" or "時代の波に乗った" or something like this.

恐らく、ご自分の「密接」の方が更に適切かもしれませんが、このimmediateは音色や音質のみならず、バンドのハートやメッセージも直接で、変えられずに、ピュアなものとして聞き手の耳、身と心に届けられるようなニュアンスだと思います。フルセンテンス、若しくは前後の文も分かれば、より確かに言えますが、howとの部分は疑問文よりも、程度を説明する文のように見えますね。

「この1993年になっても一番圧倒的なのは、バンドとその曲がどれくらい聴衆の身近に感じられるかという程度です。幻想的な"All Tomorrow's Parties"を演じるジョン・ケールは特にそうです。｣のような意味合いで表現してみたら如何でしょうか。

「この1993年になっても一番圧倒的なのは、バンドとその曲がどれくらい聴衆の身近に感じられるかという程度です。幻想的な"All Tomorrow's Parties"を演じるジョン・ケールは特にそうです。｣のような意味合いで表現してみたら如何でしょうか。

: ヴェルヴェット・アンダーグラウンドの歌が（未だに）身近に感じられる(close at hand=immediate)という風に取れました。 「色褪せていない」も良い表現だと思いますが、言語感覚は人それぞれですから♫

: The word could mean this as well, however the word 身近 has a bit of problem. What "immediate" means here is connecting to the audience, while 身近 means more of 親しい closeness.

バナナ・アルバムでも何でも、VUの音楽を聴いてみればimmediate 部分の翻訳はズバリ、「このバンドと彼らの音楽が1993年の今聴いても新しいこと」でしょう！1960年代、彼らは初めてゲイやドラッグを歌にしました。その言葉と音の世界は1993年はもちろん21世紀の今聴いても確かに全く色褪せていません。
ちなみに、「今聴いても新しい」は音楽関係の文中よく使われますよね。
