The first one that came up to my mind is "(trademark) is entitled to trademark protection", but if you would like to place "Trademark department" as a subject, then "procure trademark protection" might work better, whether it is a law firm's department or a department of the company which owns the trademark.
Anyway, it means that the applicant went through the registration process and now XYZ is protected by trademark law. I'm sure there are other ways to express this.

another option :)
In the US, trademark rights are also obtained through actual use of the mark. Registration is sufficient for protection in many countries, including Japan.
