日本語 term

(外1名)

日本語 から 英語 法/特許
(外1名)
This appears next to an attorney's name in the "Representative" area of a Japanese patent application's header section.

Does this mean that there is one other attorney involved with this patent besides the person whose name is mentioned?

Along with one person

I agree on your interpretation of the word “外1名,” which is, IMHO, every so often rendered into “along with one person.”

i.e. See below (West Virginia Wesleyan College site), et.al.

With another person [attorney]

Your solution is exactly right. This means that one more attorney is involved, although his/her name is not mentioned at all here.

In general, it will be "with another person", and, in this case, "with another attorney". You may also say like "One more person [attorney]".

日本語 term (edited): iO1j

(and 1 other)

You guessed correctly. Normally I'd translate this as follows:
代理人:弁理士 ○○○○(他1名)
Agent: Patent Attorney ○○○○ (and 1 other)
