And, since I live in Japan, Japanese yen is my preference. I also prefer to have Japanese customers in Japan so I'm inevitably going to get paid in Japanese yen, anyway.

I prefer the local currency, Danish Kroner, as first choice, but am also happy with British pounds if the client can transfer them to my account without bank charges.
Most of my clients are outside the Eurozone, and bank charges are quite a pain if I get paid in Euros. Clients often think I'm expensive, and one used to pay bank charges regardless, but he ended up finding another translator...

Euros or USD

Since my local currency is the worst choice, for several reasons, I prefer Euros or USD. However, I have other clients that pay in other currencies, and it doesn't make a lot of difference as long as it's not a southern hemisphere currency, if you know waht I mean. I will lose about 5% in the exchamge spread on any currency, anyway.
