Problem with splitting segments on Swordfish

Hello,

I have a segment which I wish to split in two: I changed a comma to a period so that there's two sentences within the segment. Then, I go to Edit and select Split Segment. The segment in question lights up blue, and i put the cursor after the aforementioned period. I hit return as instructed, but all that happens is the segment returns to the normal color and my cursor shifts over to the corresponding target text window. No new segment has been created.
