very awkward translation, sorry... But, oh, triple negation!
I also thought of adding "exclusively" before "for standard", but it seems too much for this context.
If I come up with better expressions, I will append them. Maybe, "should be not be connected otherwise"?

I think, the native (English) tech writer might write this way, providing that there are a diagram and/or table indicating which terminal is which.
Terminals a, b, and c are for standard connection only; they should not be used for any other type of connection.
I also thought of adding "exclusively" before "for standard", but it seems too much for this context.
If I come up with better expressions, I will append them. Maybe, "should be not be connected otherwise"?

My real-world knowledge/experience tells me that this is what the Japanese is *trying* to say, but the awkward wording makes it difficult to pin down how/why I know this.
Example sentence:

: Again, I am guessing too, but my J to J rephrasing is 「標準接続している端子を除き、使用しない端子は接続しないようにしてください。」 which happens to agree with Maynard's translation. Good luck, kishoreさん。
