Mario's right, I find myself introvert compared to people who keep drinking and shouting for nothing on Halloween Shibuya crossing streets,
but curiously enough no one ever identified me as "introvert" when speaking to other people (the contrary and in "personality test" I always get the result as "well-balanced" or "responsible person with plenty of common sense").

The question doesn't suggest that translating turns people into introverts. It simply asks if introverts *tend to be* attracted to the profession. And I would say that many of us are on the introverted side. The extroverts are the interpreters. I have often worked at conferences where teams of both were present and there was a marked difference in their demeanor. The interpreters were constantly schmoozing with the delegates and showing up at parties uninvited, while the translators, even when off-duty, tended to hang out in huddles of their own kind.

My accountant once asked me: "How can you stand to sit translating all day long?" To which I replied: "How can you stand to look at numbers all day long?"

I don't know if you have to be an introvert to be a translator, but you do have to be willing to put up with periods of solitude, or at least minimal contact with "real" people in the "real" world.
